Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5′ is Broadway Bound
The musical inspired by Dolly Parton's smash hit single and film, '9 to 5' will make its Broadway debut in April 2009. The New York premiere follows a fall run in Los Angeles, which starts September 3 and runs through October 19.
The cast includes 'West Wing' actress Allison Janney (pictured left) as Violet Newstead, Stephanie J. Block (pictured right) as Judy Bernly, and Megan Hilty (pictured second from left) as Doralee Rhodes, the roles portrayed in the 1980 film by Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Parton, respectively.
Parton's original score for '9 to 5: The Musical' will include more than 20 new songs, as well as the Grammy-winning title song. Dolly's new song 'Backwoods Barbie,' from her current album of the same name, will also be part of the new production.
