Craig Morgan is expanding his resume. The singer, who made a guest appearance on the hit TV drama 'Rizzoli & Isles' last year, is teaming up with the show's star, Angie Harmon, to appear in his first feature film.

“I’ve heard people talk about music, when they get on stage they become this different person and they take on this new persona and what have you," Morgan explains to the Country Vibe. "That’s not me. I’m the same guy all the time except the acting, and I think that’s why I enjoy it, because I do get in there and you get to pretend to be somebody else and it’s a lot of fun.”

The upcoming flick will be somewhat of a departure for Morgan. “[It's] a psychic thriller, a law enforcement kind of thing,” he explains, “and I’m playing a cop.”

At least his occupation in the movie won't be too much of a stretch for the singer, since he was once a police officer as well. Still, he insists there aren't many similarities between how law enforcement is portrayed on television, and how it is in real life.

“You watch it and go, ‘Oh really? C’mon, c’mon. Surely nobody will believe that,'” he tells The Boot, citing the CSI series as just one example of a fictionalized cop drama. "That is so far out there, it blows my mind. They do a decent job, but they glamorize it. It’s so glamorous. I never wore a suit like that.”

Harmon wrote the new movie, and is also directing the project. There's no word yet on a release date.
