Cody Jinks Signs With Rounder Records, Announces New Album, ‘Lifers’
Neo-traditionalist country outlier Cody Jinks netted his first taste of mainstream recognition on his 2016 studio project, I'm Not the Devil, which was released on Thirty Tigers. Bigger things may be in Jinks' future, however: The country singer has signed to Rounder Records, and also unveiled a new album, Lifers, for release on July 27 of 2018.
To kick-off his label debut, Jinks will unveil the first single from Lifers "Must Be the Whiskey," on June 15. Additionally, Thirty Tigers has plans to re-release Jinks' entire back catalogue, including I'm Not the Devil, so that fans can get their hands on the break-out country star's complete discography to date.
"When I became the President of Rounder in the fall of 2017, I'd already been involved with Cody's career for a couple years," Rounder Records president John Strohm says in a press release. "I'm well aware of his immense talent, personal integrity and work ethic. It's been my top priority since I started my job last fall to sign Cody, and I could not be more thrilled for Rounder and Concord Music to have the opportunity to work with such an incredible, ground-breaking artist."
The Fort Worth native's popularity has sky-rocketed over the past couple of years: Jinks' independent record sales have totaled 225,000 over the course of his discography and 68,000 sales of I'm Not the Devil alone. He performed a two-night, sold out stint at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. in October of 2017, and also recently announced his inaugural Loud and Heavy Fest, which is set to take place in August of 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas and will feature Jinks alongside approximately 10 other acts.
