Dolly Parton's "Coat of Many Colors" has been a hit song, a successful TV movie and soon, a children's book.

The book version, titled The Coat of Many Colors, will feature illustrations from Brooke Boynton Hughes and a new downloadable song from Parton called "Makin' Fun Ain't Funny."

Of her decision to turn the song into a book, Parton says in a statement, "Every year I receive dozens of letters and emails from teachers talking about how they use the song ('Coat of Many Colors') in their classroom to discuss being proud of who you are, that being different is not a bad thing, that every person is special and the terrible consequences of being bullied. It has always made me feel honored that my little song has been used in this way."

If its television success is any indication, the book should do well. The NBC broadcast of "Coat of Many Colors" was massively successful: 13 million viewers watched the TV debut the night that it aired, and it earned a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49. It was the most watched movie on broadcast TV since May 2012. The film's success earned it a sequel: Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, which will air in 2016.

The Coat of Many Colors will be released on Oct. 18. Parton is currently on her 60-city Pure and Simple tour.
