Chris Stapleton won Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards. It's the second year in a row that Stapleton has taken home the trophy, but even his surprise and joy was overshadowed by his respect for Dolly Parton!

"Well, if Dolly was still back there, I'd give her my time," said Stapleton, referring to the fact that Parton's acceptance speech for her Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award was cut short.

Stapleton went on to thank his band, his label, his wife, his mom and even his in-laws, noting "it takes a village" to make music as stunningly raw and beautiful as his 2015 record Traveller. Recognizing the significance of the CMA's 50th anniversary, Stapleton also took a few moments to thank a genre that has given him so much.

"I've gotten to be a fan tonight," he said, thanking the iconic musicians who brought tears to his eyes during their CMA performances of the legendary songs that he grew up on. "It means so much to get to be a part of country music. These are the best people in the world -- all the fans and all the people that make it too and I want everyone at home to know that."
