For Cassadee Pope, returning to her roots doesn't involve the homages to '90s country we associate with some of her peers. Instead, she occasionally rolls back the clock to 2008, an era when her Florida-based rock band Hey Monday shook up the pop-punk and emo scenes with their signature tune, "Homecoming."

Pope has sneaked the song into her set list on at least two stops of the CMT Next Women of Country Tour -- an ongoing string of dates also featuring Clare Dunn and Hannah Ellis. The above video comes from her April 19 show in Charlotte, N.C. She also performed the song in Boston, Mass. during an April 25 tour stop.

Considering Pope's fan base is loyal enough to be dubbed the Cassettes, Hey Monday probably aren't an unknown to die-hards, even if they aren't former scene kids. For those with Fall Out Boy fandom in their past, it's an ideal earworm for an angst-riddled trip down memory lane.

Hey Monday began an ongoing hiatus in 2011, freeing up Pope to jump-start her solo career in country by winning the third season of The Voice in 2012.

So far this year, Pope has opened multiple dates on Maren Morris' Girl: The World Tour and will follow up her current tour with a slate of summer festival dates. In February she released her new album, Stages, which marked the first full-length collection from the singer since her 2013 debut, Frame by Frame. Surrounding the release of the new record, Pope told The Boot that the songs on Stages were some of her most personal, vulnerable and -- in many cases -- darkest to date.
