Brothers Osborne Win Vocal Duo of the Year at 2016 CMA Awards
In a surprise win, Brothers Osborne took home the trophy for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards.
"I hate to be the one to say this, but I really didn't prepare anything!" TJ Osborne said from the stage, with a look of complete surprise on his face. "We were sitting behind Florida Georgia Line, and I really thought I would be congratulating them!"
This win marks the first CMA trophy for the Brothers Osborne and upsets a three-year streak by Florida Georgia Line, who have been named Vocal Duo of the Year every year since 2013. Brothers Osborne certainly deserve the Vocal Duo win, though: Their 2016 debut album Pawn Shop soared to No. 3 on the charts and was praised by fans and critics alike for its ability to explore new a new and modern sound while remaining true to traditional country roots.
TJ's brother John Osborne was just as surprised with the duo's win, laughing in complete shock and letting out a huge whoop at the end of their speech -- talk about being at a loss for words!
