Brooks & Dunn and the Dixie Chicks are among the artists who dialed into their first-ever Gold mastertone certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently. The designation, specifically for mobile-phone ringtones, was first introduced in 2006,

Brooks & Dunn's award came for the "Hillbilly Deluxe" ringtone, the title track from their million-selling album, while the Chicks received theirs for the Grammy-winning "Not Ready to Make Nice."

Since the award's inception, other country acts who have earned mastertone awards include Trace Adkins, Big & Rich, Kenny Chesney, Billy Currington, Charlie Daniels Band, Waylon Jennings, Lonestar, Taylor Swift and Gretchen Wilson.

In Septempter 2008, Carrie Underwood became the first country artist ever to earn two Platinum Mastertone certifications, denoting sales of one million ringtones of a particular title, She did it with 'Jesus Take the Wheel' - perhaps a reminder not to answer a ringing phone while driving, no matter how catchy that ringtone may be.
