Blake Shelton's tweets normally have to do with drinking or are sarcastic remarks about one of his famous friends. But the singer deviated from those regular subjects in a series of tweets on Monday (May 11), offering some well-worded advice, specifically to his younger fans.

"Make up your own minds about this country and the rest of the world. Listen, read, watch and decide. And remember that Hollywood celebrities opinions or mine for that matter are no better than yours ..." Shelton writes. "Microphones only make a voice louder ... Not powerful. Remember that."

After his moments of seriousness, the Oklahoma native returned to his typical Twitter topics. Shelton might be on to something, though: His serious tweets have been shared more than 15,000 times so far this week.

Shelton's latest single, "Sangria," is in the Top 5 and climbing. He is currently coaching contestant Meghan Linsey, formerly of Steel Magnolia, on his team on The Voice. Linsey has made it to the finals and will perform on Monday (May 18), with the show's Season 8 winner being announced on Tuesday (May 19).
