Blake Shelton returns to 'The Voice' tonight (May 10) with his hand-picked team, who prepare to battle it out. The contestants are going to get some help, though, when the 'Honey Bee' singer reveals his secret weapon: Reba McEntire. In tonight's "battle rounds," participants from the same team will go head-to-head, singing the same song, and their coach will vote one of them off.

Since the Oklahoma native wasn't able to see any of the entrants before he chose them, was he surprised by any of their appearances? "There's definitely times I hit my button and turned around, and it was all I could do not to go, 'Oh, my God! What the H---?'" Blake tells The Boot. "Sometimes the voice doesn't match the face, and it's alarming sometimes. It's crazy."

He may have been shocked, but that doesn't mean it was a negative reaction. "It's interesting because I watched the first episode, and I never thought of it from this angle," he continues. "There was this girl on there that was drop-dead beautiful, and she got picked based on her talent and not her looks, and she was as emotional as anybody for being picked. I think she felt that for the first time somebody paid attention to what she wanted them to pay attention to. It was interesting to see what that meant to her."

That mystery is what the crooner likes about 'The Voice.' "As singers in Nashville, especially when you have a buddy, you can be sitting on your bus, and somebody will come on TV singing, and you'll think, 'Oh, my God. They suck! Who signed them?'" Blake admits. "Well, it's because she's good-looking, or it's because he's taking his shirt off and he's muscle-y or else he wouldn't have got his chance. This [show] eliminates all of that; not to say that a lot of the people that got picked aren't good-looking, normal people, but at least it starts from having a talent and then we move on from there."

Even though he absolutely loves the concept behind the show, the 'All About Tonight' singer knows that, realistically, image does play a part in someone being super successful. "We'll never be able to eliminate the image from the music industry, unless you count Craig Morgan. He's ugly as crap to me," he jokes. "Outside of that, it's hard. This just lets people have the chance that they deserve, and then it's up to them, honestly, to make the most of it. If they need to get a d--- haircut and shave, then do it. If music matters enough to you, do it. At least you're going to get your shot based on your talent first."

In other Blake news, a sneak peek of the video for his new single, 'Honey Bee,' will be featured tonight on NBC's 'The Voice,' which airs at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
