It was only a few weeks ago that Billy Ray Cyrus revealed he felt partly responsible for the way his daughter Miley Cyrus was behaving, when the teen star's actions -- alleged underage drinking and drug use -- were splashed across the headlines. Although he also insists he is a victim of Miley's controlling handlers, the 49-year-old is pushing blame aside and taking matters into his own hands.

"It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now," he tells People magazine. The famous dad, who returned to Nashville after filing for divorce from his wife Tish in October, is back in Los Angeles, spending time with his estranged spouse and youngest daughter, Noah.

"My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier," he says. "It is all a learning process, and we thank everyone for their support and respect of our privacy as we sort through very important family issues."

The singer/actor canceled a media trip planned for this week to New York City, which included a guest appearance on 'The View.' Meanwhile, Miley is scheduled to appear on 'Saturday Night Live' March 5, where the 18-year-old will take over the show's hosting duties for the night.
