What's your take on former 'Idol' contestants who bash the show?

Not smart. Not right. There was a lot of speculation that I bash the show and wanted to separate myself from it, and that's simply not true. What would happen is, reporters would ask about the current 'American Idol.' Well, I really hadn't been watching it, so I would tell them, 'I don't feel right commenting on contestants.' It's not fair to them if people that read it take what I say and think I'm watching it all the time. So some of them spun that and took it as me not wanting to be part of that. But that's absolutely not true. I was always raised to remember where you came from and remember who has helped you along the way. That show has done wonders for me.
