Brandy Clark

A native of Washington state, Brandy Clark watched Mount St. Helens erupt when she was a little girl and says that many of her songwriting influences come from the working-town community of Morton, where she grew up. Clark wrote dozens of songs for other artists -- including Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart," the Band Perry's "Better Dig Two," "Follow Your Arrow" by Kacey Musgraves and Toby Keith's "Drunk Americans," among others -- before finding success as an artist herself. In 2013, Clark released her own debut album, '12 Stories'; she wrote all 12 of the songs on the record, while her good friend and frequent collaborator Shane McAnally co-wrote seven of the 12 tracks with her. Her sophomore disc, 'Big Day in a Small Town', was released in 2016.

Shane McAnally, Brandy Clark and Josh Osborne performed together during Nashville's annual Tin Pan South festival in late March, in a songwriters' round that McAnally jokingly dubbed "Two Gays and a Guy." But while the three writers threw playful jabs at each other throughout most of the evening, they also made it clear that their friendship is certainly no laughing matter.
