Travis Linville, ‘Wishes’ Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]
Oklahoma-based singer-songwriter Travis Linville is premiering the music video for his song “Wishes” exclusively for readers of The Boot.
Throughout his 20-plus-year career, Linville has spent time as part of Texas troubadour Hayes Carll’s band and toured with Parker Millsap, but he's also sold more than 15,000 albums as an independent artist. With his latest release Up Ahead, Linville is looking to break out as one of Americana’s most promising songwriters and performers.
“Wishes” is a different kind of love song, one that isn’t just about romance. It was one of the first songs that Linville wrote for his recently released Up Ahead album, he tells The Boot, but its lyrics didn't exactly come quickly.
“I chipped away at it for a while before it began to take shape,” Linville explains. “The fundamental idea was to make a personally positive statement to a friend or a loved one.
"There is something special about a love song that transcends a romantic relationship," he adds. "When a love song could just as easily speak to a friend, grandparent or child just as much as it speaks to a romantic partner, I think that is the most powerful.”
The sparse video for “Wishes” features Linville and his band playing on a stage lit by Edison bulbs, which provides a fitting backdrop for such an open-ended song. Readers can press play above to watch the clip, and learn more about Linville on his official website.
