Trace Adkins has announced his 2015 tour plans. The singer will spend much of the spring and summer out on the road, with dates currently scheduled through August.

The Louisiana native hinted late last year that he planned on having a busy 2015, including working on new music and starring in a movie.

“I’m in the studio now, and we have about half the next album finished,” Adkins said at the time. “I’ll go back in January, and we should finish it in a couple of months. I’m doing a movie in the spring, so will probably go out for a summer tour.”

While recording an album, shooting a film and playing concerts may sound like the makings for a chaotic few months, the 53-year-old says being an actor actually makes him a better artist.

“When you’re on a movie set, you’re surrounded by incredibly talented, creative people, and I find that environment stimulating and invigorating, and I dig it,” Adkins explains. “In order to grow in this life, you have to get outside your comfort zone, and when I’m doing that stuff, I have no idea what I’m doing, so I’m certainly outside my comfort zone.”

Adkins released a live DVD, Live Country!, last month. The DVD, filmed at the Paramount in Huntington, N.Y., last August, features 20 of Adkins’ biggest hits, including "You’re Gonna Miss This," "(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing," "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," "Every Light in the House" and "There’s a Girl in Texas," as well as interviews with and behind-the-scenes footage featuring the country music hitmaker.

One of the dates on Adkins' upcoming tour is the 2015 Volunteer Jam, at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, on Aug. 12. The tunesmith will be joined by Craig Morgan, Ted Nugent, Tracy Lawrence, Colt Ford, the Oak Ridge BoysMichael W. Smith, Montgomery GentryTravis TrittBilly Ray Cyrus, the Kentucky Headhunters, the Outlaws and Lee Roy Parnell. The show, started by Charlie Daniels in 1974, will benefit the Journey Home Project and the Predators Foundation.
