Toby Keith has postponed a concert at the Florence Civic Center in Florence, S.C. The concert, originally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22, has been postponed to March 9 due to fuel shortages and rising gas prices in the Southeast region of the U.S.

Following a major gas leak on Sept. 9, an Alabama pipeline was shutdown for several days, causing shortages and surging prices across the South. Even after the pipeline was restarted, North Carolina remains in a state of emergency, while Nikki Haley, the governor of South Carolina, issued an executive order to assist the flow of gasoline supplies. In response, the Florence Civic Center and Toby Keith touring team have collectively decided to postpone the performance until early 2017.

“This is a major show for the region which attracts fans within a one- to two-hour drive and beyond,” Florence Civic Center General Manager Kendall Wall says (quote via SCNow.com). “We understand the growing concerns for Toby’s fans and our own fans, as we’ve been receiving distress messages over the past couple days ... it would be unfair for these fans and unrealistic for them to travel given the current dismal situation with gas prices and availability."

Purchased tickets will remain valid for the March 9 show and ticket holders who cannot attend the new date will receive a full refund. Keith is currently on the road with his Interstates and Tailgates Tour and recently released a new single "A Few More Cowboys," which hints at new music on the way.
