Toby Keith: “Hate on Me First”
Toby Keith hasn't had much to say until now about his confrontation earlier this month with a rowdy fan at a Kentucky concert. Breaking his silence, Keith tells Dial-Global that it takes a lot to get him stirred up, but that when he's called to action, he's not really concerned how people will respond.
"You've gotta hate on me first," says Keith. "You wanna get me going, you've gotta hate on me first. It doesn't matter to me. I don't care.
"It's pretty hard to go out there and say you pray the serenity prayer all the time and then back off and act like it really does matter to you, these other things," Keith continues. "'You can ask the people closest to me -- my promoter, my booking agent, my manager, my band, people that are around me everyday -- I really don't care."
And in other Toby Keith news of a less pugilistic nature, if you're in the singer's hometown of Oklahoma City this weekend, look for his 1930 Lincoln Model L , which will be among 400 classic cars up for bids at the 2008 Kruse-Leake Auction. Special features on the car include a rumble seat (which has nothing to do with tussling with out-of-control fans), golf bag/luggage door, chrome dashboard and an instrument panel with a Seth Thomas clock.
Also included in the sale will be an autographed life-sized sign of the singer as well as four tickets and backstage passes to the Toby Keith concert of the buyer's choice during the 2009 concert season.
