Tim McGraw to Star in New Movie, ‘The Shack’
The movie Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney and featuring Tim McGraw, was just released, but the singer has already signed on to appear in another film.
According to TheWrap.com, director Stuart Hazeldine revealed on his Facebook page that McGraw will be starring in Hazeldine's upcoming movie, The Shack, along with Octavia Spencer and Sam Worthington. The film is based on the 2007 best-selling novel of the same name by William Paul Young.
“We have a great cast and a great crew bringing The Shack to life after many years of development," Hazeldine writes. "Excited to finally start shooting tomorrow."
The "Diamond Rings and Old Barstools" singer revealed that he was juggling the concert dates on his 2015 Shotgun Rider Tour and recording a new album with his time on the movie set.
“I’m flying in between shows, going up to Vancouver, shooting a movie,” McGraw tells Taste of Country. “It’s kind of a foot race to see which one gets done first, [the album or movie].”
Although McGraw didn't reveal many details, he did say that the movie was "based on a book, I can tell you that."
The Shack, which will also star Radha Mitchell, Graham Greene and Aviv Alush, is a faith-based film about a man whose daughter is abducted during a family vacation. Although evidence suggests that the young girl was murdered, a note, which appears to be from God, takes the story in an entirely new direction.
McGraw, who has appeared in several hit movies, including The Blind Side and Country Strong, admit that the biggest struggle with acting is scheduling.
"The hardest thing is timing," he says. "You can read 50 scripts and not find anything that you like. It’s much like finding songs; you listen to thousands of songs and you find those magic things, and for me it all has to start with a script, of course. If that’s not right, then nothing’s right.”
No word yet on when The Shack will be released.
