Tim McGraw has once again claimed his spot as one of the reigning superstars of country music. The singer's latest 'Sundown Heaven Town' album debuted at the top of the charts, making it his 15th album to hold the No. 1 spot in its first week of release.

It seems McGraw's plan worked. Bucking the conventional system, which is what has worked for his more than 20-year career, the Louisiana native decided to tour in advance of his new record, introducing thousands of fans to the music before they could buy it. It was a risk, he admits, but one he was willing to take.

“When you finish making an album, all you want is to have everyone hear it as soon as possible,” he explains. “I’m in the unique position this year that I’m able to tour ahead of the album and introduce the fans to these songs early. I’ve never done anything like this before, but in a world driven by immediate gratification, I want to be able to play a song live somewhere and then have it available for download right then."

The 47-year-old says 'Sundown Heaven Town' is the culmination of his entire country music career.

“It wraps its arms around what I’ve done from the very beginning of making music to where I’m headed at the middle of my career making music,” he maintains “That’s why there’s 18 songs, because it just tells a long story about my career.”
