Taylor Swift Recognized for Her Tweets

She has topped sales lists, touring lists, most beautiful lists and ranked on Time magazine's prestigious list of Most Influential People. Now, Taylor Swift is being recognized for her sporadic, yet impacting, tweets. The 21-year old was recently named by Time as one of the 140 Best Twitter Feeds.

Taylor boasts 5.7 million Twitter followers, who clearly hang on to her every word. Studies show that the country music superstar joins a small list of celebrities, including Sara Bareilles and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum, whose tweets influence what music their followers purchase. For example, relatively unknown duo, the Civil Wars, saw their sales skyrocket after Taylor tweeted about their new album, 'Barton Hollow.'

"Instantly, with one click, five million people knew our name," band member John Paul White said of Taylor's influence (quote via Baylor Lariat).

Taylor may captivate millions of followers, but she doesn't fill her days with hourly updates. Known for tweeting once, maybe twice a day, her tweets are mostly about her daily activities, like her most recent posting (from around 9:00AM ET on March 29): "My friends and I saw the candyland-tastic @katyperry concert last night in Dublin. Loved it!! On the way to the arena in Manchester now!"

The multi-platinum selling singer joins an eclectic list of celebs on Time's list. Other well-known names whose tweets have a broad appeal include Neil Patrick Harris, Alyssa Milano, Ellen DeGeneres, Lady Gaga, comedian Stephen Colbert, Chelsea Handler and Olympian Dara Torres.

Taylor wraps up the European leg of her Speak Now tour tomorrow (March 30) in London, and will then enjoy several weeks off the road before kicking off her United States tour on May 27 in Omaha, Nebraska. See her tour schedule here.
