Blink and you might miss it, but a dark-haired Taylor Swift can be seen in the trailer for the upcoming movie, 'The Giver.'

The singer plays Rosemary in the film, which is an adaptation of the award-winning novel by Lois Lowry. Swift joins an all-star cast for the movie, including Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgard and Jeff Bridges, who also served as co-producer.

“I learned so much,” Swift boasts about her appearance in the film. “I did all my scenes with Jeff Bridges. He is just a master. He is just incredible. Learning from someone like that on set I was just, ‘How did I get here?’”

The answer to how Swift found herself in a movie with an all-star cast is actually thanks to her undeniable performance during her ongoing Red Tour. The songstress performed in Los Angeles last year, not knowing that a few Hollywood movie executives were also in the audience.

“When I played my shows in L.A., I was unaware that people from this movie were in the audience, and I had a role offered to me the next week," she recalls. But she adds that it really isn't that far of a stretch that people could sense her acting abilities while on stage

“I think my shows tend to be very emotional and moody and they saw something they needed in that role,” she explains. “So, I’m very honored and lucky to get to be a part of it, and we’ll see how it goes."

The 24-year-old, whose other acting credits include an appearance on 'CSI' and a role in the 2010 blockbuster film, 'Valentine's Day,' says she is eager to take smaller roles as she learns the craft of acting.

”I want to do the right thing, I’m not just going ‘Man, you know what I need right now, a starring role,’” she notes. ”It would have to all line up, a lot of stars aligning for it to happen, because I live to write songs.”

Swift will continue her worldwide Red Tour with a series of shows in Asia in June. See a list of her remaining concert dates here.

'The Giver' will be released in theaters nationwide on August 15.
