Taylor Swift went back to school -- sort of. The songstress recently wrapped up her role in the upcoming sci-fi flick, 'The Giver,' and she says she received quite the education working alongside her co-star, Oscar winner Jeff Bridges.

“I learned so much,” Swift gushes to 'Extra'. “I did all my scenes with Jeff Bridges. He is just a master. He is just incredible. Learning from someone like that on set I was just, ‘How did I get here?’”

The country music superstar has a supporting role in the film, which was filmed in Africa and also stars Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard and Katie Holmes.

“The role in the movie is a character named Rosemary,” Swift explains. “It’s the ideal situation for me because it’s a great cast, incredible movie, wonderful script, amazing director, small role.”

The 23-year-old, who also appeared in the blockbuster movie 'Valentine's Day,' says she isn't interested in being a main character in a film anytime soon.

''I want to do the right thing, I'm not just going 'Man, you know what I need right now, a starring role,'" she explains. ''It would have to all line up, a lot of stars aligning for it to happen, because I live to write songs.''

Swift may have to wait to pursue more acting, for the next few months anyway. She is continuing her global Red tour, which takes her to Australia next week for several shows. See her complete schedule here.

'The Giver' is due in theaters next year.
