Kane Allen Brown was born in Chattanooga, TN in 1993, and had a difficult childhood that included abuse and periods of homelessness. He also faced the additional stigma of being biracial, and has recalled having racial slurs hurled at him during his first public performance (a rendition of Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)" at his high school's talent contest. Nevertheless, he won that contest, and began to further pursue country music by uploading his video covers of Randy Travis, Alan Jackson and more. Brown soon began to accumulate an online following, and in 2016, he signed a record deal with RCA/Sony Music Nashville, putting out a self-titled project that featured soon-to-be hits like "What If" (featuring Lauren Alaina) and "Heaven." The singer continued to garner massive country success in the years that followed, and he also branched out of the genre, too, collaborating with the likes of Khalid, Marshmello and Nelly. He married Katelyn Jae in 2018 and the couple welcomed their first daughter, Kingsley, in October of 2019.
