Shovels & Rope Tease New Album
Hot duo Shovels & Rope, made up of husband and wife team Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, released their last album, the critically-acclaimed 'O' Be Joyful' in 2012, but the wait is almost over for new music.
The pair have released a teaser video (seen above) from their upcoming new record, which is scheduled for a summer release.
Shovels & Rope have seen a big surge in their career over the past couple years, graduating from a van to a small RV to travel from gig to gig, thanks in part to taking home two Americana Music Awards last year. But the duo says their increased fame comes at a price.
“You did get to know your fans,” Hearst says of their beginnings, playing in small clubs. “And now it’s a little bit more difficult to get out there to them, I think. I hope their feelings aren’t hurt by that. It’s just a little bit different now that we are responsible for everything. … You sure do appreciate it when you’ve got a merch guy.”
Shovels & Rope have just added several dates to their concert schedule, including a series of shows in Canada. All of their dates are listed here.
