Shooter Jennings’ Under the Big Sky Fest 2019 Tour Diary: Go Behind the Scenes
In mid-July, Shooter Jennings took a trip out to the wilderness of Whitefish, Mont., for his first-ever headlining performance at Under the Big Sky Fest. With no Wi-Fi to keep him and his band and crew entertained, Jennings had to get creative about ways to stay occupied on the tour bus. The singer carved out some time to enjoy an old favorite game, Solitaire, along with more psychotropic pursuits.
Along the way, Jennings snapped some behind-the-scenes shots of the experience for The Boot. From hang seshes on the bus to the evening when he took the stage, Jennings documented all the highlights of the festival. Flip through the gallery below to see all the action:
Recently, Jennings has been focusing on honing his producing chops. He joined forces with Brandi Carlile to produce Tanya Tucker's new album, While I'm Livin'. Due out on Aug. 23, the project will be Tucker's first new music in 17 years, since the release of her 2002 album I, Tanya.
Late in 2018, Jennings also revealed that he had plans to produce a solo album by Guns 'n' Roses bassist Duff McKagan. Jennings, a longtime fan of the iconic rock group, says that Guns 'n' Roses are likely part of the reason he decided to move to LA.
"But there was some magnetic force I guess that kept us orbiting each other over the years. When the idea of collaborating with him on this album came up, I was very eager to get the job as producer," Jennings explained in a statement at the time. "I felt like the music this man made was part of the fabric of my own musical identity and that I would really love building a record with him."
