Route 91 Harvest Festival Victims Mourned at Vigils in Nashville, Las Vegas [PICTURES]
Following the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting, mourners gathered in Las Vegas, Nev., and Nashville, Tenn., on Monday evening (Oct. 2) to pray and reflect. Readers can see photos of the events in the gallery above.
In Las Vegas, residents and country music fans gathered on the Las Vegas Strip and at Las Vegas City Hall; in Nashville, they came to the Ascend Amphitheater. In Music City, Keith Urban, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, Alison Krauss and Charles Esten all took the stage to speak or perform.
In addition to the vigils, a number of major landmarks went dark or were lit up in special colors to honor the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting victims. In Las Vegas, buildings on the Las Vegas Strip dimmed their lights; in New York City, both the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center were darkened and displayed a single orange band; and in Paris, the Eiffel Tower went dark as well.

The shooting at the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival took place near the end of Jason Aldean's headlining set on Sunday night (Oct. 1). Other artists who performed at the event, which ran Sept. 29-Oct. 1, include Chris Young, Jake Owen, Sam Hunt, Eric Church, Maren Morris, the Brothers Osborne and Luke Combs.
Las Vegas police have identified 64-year-old Stephen Paddock as the suspect in the shooting; he is dead. More than 50 people have died and more than 500 people were injured when he opened fire from a Mandalay Bay hotel room, above where the Route 91 Harvest Festival was taking place.
In a televised statement on Monday, President Donald Trump praised Las Vegas police and first responders for their quick response to the shooting. Trump also ordered that flags be lowered to half-staff in honor of the victims.
