Ronnie Dunn’s Daughter Provided Inspiration for ‘Bleed Red’ Video

Ronnie Dunn found the perfect inspiration for the video for his debut single, 'Bleed Red,' right in his own backyard, as a poignant moment between a father and his daughter later became the building block for the touching clip about universal pain and forgiveness.

"The way the opening scene happened was I grabbed Haley, my youngest daughter, as she came in from school one afternoon," Ronnie tells Countryforever. "I said, 'Let's go get a still picture for something.' There's an old horse trailer in a field out here behind my house, and we went out there to do a still shot. These cameras are both still and video, and I said, 'Let's just wing something here.' She had just broken up with her boyfriend, and this is bad of me to do, but I said, 'Let's try this real quick; let's just ad lib these lines.' Sure enough, at three takes, that's what we have there on film. Then we just added and made it up as we went and let the story develop from that simple, intimate moment of having to find forgiveness in a situation like that, to much broader, more global, more universal things that are going on."

Fans can expect many more visual explorations of the songs from his new album in the months to come, since Ronnie is doing something unique with this project. Rather than just release a coinciding video to accompany each song's release to radio, he's making videos for nearly every song on his new self-titled CD.

"I'm attempting something in the field of videos that hasn't been done in our business to coincide with the release of the physical CD," Ronnie tells Country Aircheck. "I am producing a series of videos to go with the majority of the songs. So far, I have finished five, with a 'Making of Ronnie Dunn' video that can be seen on my website."

Ronnie recently released the clip for his second single, 'How Far to Waco,' a south-of-the-border fun-filled fiesta of a tune that features a mariachi band. Both songs can be found on the new solo effort, which hits stores June 7.
