Rodney Atkins has announced a release date for his upcoming fourth album, 'Take a Back Road,' which will hit shelves October 4.

Rodney, who has been on the road for most of the summer and will continue to tour through his new CD's release date, has already enjoyed huge success with the lead single of the same name. 'Take a Back Road' is the fastest rising song of his career, currently sitting comfortably in the Top 10 at country radio, and is on track to go gold in the next month, with sales already in excess of 350,000.

"I have put a lot of time into the recording of this album and am excited to say I think it is progressive and representative of who and where I am today," Rodney reports. "We are thrilled with the reaction of 'Take a Back Road.'"

The Tennessee native began his current tour in Nashville on June 7 and has since played dates across the country, as well as hosting and organizing the first annual Music City Gives Back concert in Nashville, a benefit for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The singer will be shooting a video for his latest hit single in the coming weeks.

Rodney Atkins' 'Take a Back Road' will be in stores on October 4.
