Ricky SkaggsRicky Skaggs' soon-to-be-released album, 'Mosaic,' is filled with gospel-flavored country tunes that have sprinklings of pop and rock elements.

Ricky paired with Grammy winner Gordon Kennedy -- who has produced albums for Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks and Bonnie Raitt -- to record the songs that reflect what he says is "music that is in my head and in my heart."

"The love of music always challenges me to come up with something new, something different," Ricky tells The Boot. "Music is just another part of God's creativity."

The album features several special guests, including a 12-member choir and electric guitar work by Peter Frampton on the tune 'My Cup Runneth Over.' The song 'Return to Sender,' which is reportedly quite different than the classic Elvis Presley tune, features an orchestra and guitar licks by Tommy Sims.

Ricky's new album will be released August 24 on Skaggs Family Records. The music legend is scheduled to play his next concert on June 19 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A complete list of concert dates can be found on his website.
