Reba McEntire has a longer list of acting credentials than most of her country superstar counterparts, but there's still one role she's dying to play: a villain on the country music drama Nashville.

Earlier this year, the icon joined the show's cast for ''Nashville: On the Record," a one-night performance on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry, during which she sang her newest single, "Going Out Like That." McEntire, who has not yet appeared in an episode of the series, says that she wants to return to play a role on the actual TV show.

"When they said, 'You're gonna be on the Nashville TV show,' I said, 'YES! What do I play?'" she tells ET Online of being asked to perform. After being told that she'd be singing and playing herself on stage, the singer says she's now being clear that she wants to come back and act on the show.

"So, now I've already told all of 'em, I said, 'OK, I want to come back as, like, a villain on Music Row or something like that.' That'd be fun," McEntire says.

The singer has spent plenty of time in front of the camera, including her own show Reba, and she says that she doesn't want to just play a mean version of herself -- she wants a totally different character.

"A fictional character," she says. "Reba's not mean. Reba's happy, havin' too much fun."

McEntire, who received a 50th Anniversary Milestone Award at the 2015 ACM Awards, is currently gearing up for a Las Vegas residency with good friends Brooks & Dunn, which kicks off on June 17 at Caesar's Palace. Kix Brooks turned down a role on Nashville earlier this year due to scheduling conflicts.
