Reba McEntire Splits From Ex-Husband’s Management Company, Becomes Her Own Manager
Reba McEntire is now her own manager. The country icon has separated from her former management company, Starstruck Entertainment, following her divorce from Narvel Blackstock, Starstruck's president and CEO.
As president of Reba's Business Incorporated (RBI), McEntire will handle her own career, with help from associate manager / tour manager Carolyn Snell, brand manager Leslie Matthews and controller Theresa Connelly. Justin McIntosh will work with both RBI and Starstruck Entertainment, as vice president of creative and marketing. RBI will operate out of 40 Music Square West, the same location as Starstruck.
“I thought it was a good time now to break free from management,” McEntire revealed during an event at the Bluebird Cafe on March 29. “My team at Starstruck, which is now RBI, joined together and had a powwow at lunch, [brainstorming] ideas. Then we took our list to [my label] Nash Icon, and they were so excited because we were willing to do things that we hadn’t got to do before. If there was something they asked for in the past, [let’s] bring it up again.
“We all get along and love the business," she continues. "We’re always trying to find out new ways to do things.”
McEntire and Blackstock announced their separation, following 25 years of marriage, in early August; their divorce was finalized at the end of October. The couple had been working together professionally since 1980 and, in a statement issued at the time of their separation, said that they would continue to do so.
Blackstock will continue to head up Starstruck Entertainment, which manages, among others, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton. The former couple founded the company together, but according to Music Row, there are no details about whether or not McEntire now retains any portion of ownership.
