Rascal Flatts are taking a page out of their hit song, 'Life Is a Highway,' by helping to clean up the highways in Tennessee. The trio have partnered with the Tennessee Department of Transportation to ask residents of the state to adopt a highway and keep the streets free from trash.

The boys are featured in a new 30-second public service announcement and on billboards across the state encouraging Tennesseans to "Show Your Pride and Adopt-a-Highway today." In the PSA, guitarist Joe Don Rooney picks up a piece of litter tossed along the side of a road and asks, "Think this is no big deal?" to which lead singer Gary LeVox says, "Think about 12 million pounds of it."

Since the beginning of the Adopt-a-Highway program in 1989, volunteers have collected more than 12 million pounds of litter from Tennessee's roadways. The goal of the campaign is to encourage more people to volunteer and remind them to not litter.

The guys are looking at a couple of weeks off the road. Their next date is Friday, June 11, when they take to the stage for NBC's Today Show Concert Series, followed by a performance at LP Field in Nashville during CMA Music Festival on Sat., June 12.
