The younger brother of singer Randy Travis is in jail in North Carolina. 50-year-old David Brownlow Traywick is expected to appear in court on Wednesday (July 17) to answer charges of drug trafficking.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Traywick was arrested late Tuesday (July 16) after a police search at his home near Marshville, N.C. turned up a working meth lab. Traywick was charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine and trafficking methamphetamine. His wife, 45-year-old Jessica Dawn Traywick, was also arrested and faces the same charges. Both are being held on $500,000 bond.

Police also arrested 30-year-old Christina Marie Stegall during the search. She faces the same charges and is being held on $250,000 bond.

David Traywick was also arrested last August and charged with second degree trespassing and communicating threats. He was arrested again in September on charges of methamphetamine possession, manufacturing drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Randy Travis, whose birth name is Randy Traywick, has often admitted to problems with alcohol and drugs in his youth, which resulted in a string of fights and arrests in his teens and early twenties. He turned his life around before becoming a country music star, but in recent years has once again publicly struggled with alcohol, resulting in more arrests and a court-ordered stay in rehab. The singer announced last November that he has given up drinking.

Travis is currently in the hospital in Texas after suffering heart problems and a stroke. His doctors announced on Monday (July 15) that the singer's current medical problems are not related to alcohol or drugs, citing his long family history of cardiomyopathy.
