Patty Griffin is hitting the road. The songstress has announced a series of shows in October to support her latest album, 'American Kid,' which is her first project on New West Records.

The 12-track album is filled with poignant, emotional tunes that Griffin says helped her deal with her father's illness and passing. “It’s how I process my world," she explains. “I would write about what was going on in my life, and that’s what was going on. So in that way it wasn’t really hard, just I think what was going on is life. And it’s as hard as life is [or] can be at times.”

In addition to songs from 'American Kid,' the 49-year-old will also play songs from her upcoming album, 'Silver Bell,' on Universal. The album was originally recorded in 2000 and subsequently shelved due to a change in label ownership.

Griffin will kick off her tour on Oct. 10 in her hometown of Austin, Texas, and wrap up the multi-city trek on Oct. 26 in Dallas. She will perform at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 21. See a complete list of her upcoming shows below.
