Pat Green is known for his fun-loving, rowdy concerts, so it might be a bit of a surprise to find out that one of his most favorite songs he's ever written, 'Footsteps of Our Fathers,' is an introspective, emotional ballad. And now that the singer is between labels, the thought of that tune never making it to the airwaves makes him sad.

"'Footsteps Of Our Fathers' is a song that breaks my heart, when I see a song like that and don't know if it's ever going to get on the radio. I sure hope it does," Pat tells the Asbury Park Press. "It's one of my favorites that I've ever written. It might be the one where I would go, 'OK, that's the best I can do.'"

And though the crowd will always love a Texas-style party, Pat says he doesn't avoid ballads during his shows and thinks there is plenty of room for them alongside his uptempo music. "I think my friend Jack Ingram put it best: Slow songs can really rock, too. If it's a really great song, it doesn't matter if it's slow or fast," Pat says.

Pat is currently on a tour of his favorite clubs and venues around the country and will reportedly return to the studio soon to record a new album. There's no word yet on which record label will scoop up the new project.
