New Keith Urban Album in the Works With Possible Duets
Keith Urban has been spending much of his time in Los Angeles the last few months, due to his role as an 'American Idol' judge. But as the TV talent show nears its two-night finale, May 15 and 16, the country superstar says he plans to use his upcoming free time to focus on the follow-up album to 2010's 'Get Closer.'
"I'm still working on it," Keith tells The Boot. "Hopefully, in the next couple of months it will be getting rounded out. I've recorded a lot of stuff, so now I'm trying to figure out the things that make sense to constitute an album."
Keith hints that the album will include collaborations with a few of his talented friends, but he's keeping their identities top-secret for now. "I have one so far that I hope will make it through all the way, which I think will," he reports. "And there are a couple of others that I'm reaching out to."
The Aussie singer is also putting the final touches on his Light the Fuse tour, which will kick off on July 18. And as daunting of a task as it might seem to appear on a TV show two nights a week, plus plan a tour and work on a new album, the married father of two says he has plenty of help getting everything done.
"I have an extraordinary team around me because it really does take a village," he explains. "I'm certainly not doing everything on my own. I have an extraordinary wife in [actress Nicole Kidman], who's an amazing mother. She just does a beautiful job of helping keep it all in balance. It's a huge honor that I get to do all of it. That includes being a husband and a father."
Keith's Light the Fuse tour, which also includes Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch, will begin in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 18. See a list of cities and dates on the trek here.
