Why We Dig Her: This 24-year-old wrings a lifetime of raw emotion out of every note she sings and plays. A classically-trained violinist, Kendel was mentored by songwriter Chip Taylor ('Wild Thing,' 'Angel of the Morning' -- and Angelina Jolie's uncle), who wrote or co-wrote with her the bulk of the tunes on her current album, 'Alright Dynamite.' Rootsy country rockers are right at home alongside heart-rending ballads. It's no wonder Kendel also plays in a side project called The Paperboys -- this young dynamo really delivers!
