In 2018, Midland won the trophy for New Duo or Group of the Year at the ACM Awards. They were, coincidentally, nominated up against all three of the acts in the category's 2019 list of nominees.

Canadian natives Brad and Curtis Rempel of High Valley have crooned their way into the hearts of fans across the U.S., as well as into this lineup of nominees, opening for country megastars such as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their Soul2Soul Tour, while five-member country band Lanco return to the list of nominees after a successful year of headlining their own Hallelujah Nights Tour.

Talented trio Runaway June are also nominated again this year. That's no surprise, as Hannah Mulholland, Jennifer Wayne and Naomi Cooke earned an opening slot on Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty Tour 360 in 2019.
