Meghan Linsey helped usher thousands of fans into the Christmas season in 2015 by serving as the special guest on the 73rd annual Santa Train, but she acknowledges that her own holiday traditions are anything but traditional.

"I grew up in Louisiana, so we have weird traditions," Linsey tells The Boot. "We fry turkeys down there. We have etouffee for Thanksgiving. The food’s definitely different."

Still, Linsey has a special fondness for the Christmas season, especially Christmas music, since it was during the holidays that her passion for being a singer was born.

"The first Christmas song that I ever heard, really the first time I ever realized I could sing, I was singing to Dolly Parton’s "Hard Candy Christmas,"" Linsey recalls. "My mom turned the radio down, and she was like, ‘You actually sound pretty good.’ That was the moment I was like, ‘I could do this.’"

Following her second place finish during Season 8 of The Voice, Linsey -- formerly one-half of the duo Steel Magnolia -- released an EP, Believer, in July. The record is available for download on iTunes.
