Twins Megan and Liz Mace, known professionally as Megan & Liz, don't have a major record deal -- but it doesn't really seem like they need one. The sisters, who got their start by performing songs on YouTube, have amassed an incredible social media following and fan base from their work so far -- and thanks in part to being introduced to the world by Taylor Swift and TV mogul Oprah Winfrey.

"To this day, that’s probably one of the biggest ‘Did that really happen in my life?’ moments," Megan Mace tells The Boot. "We were 16 years old, in a town of 1,200 people, and Oprah Winfrey puts you on her TV show with Taylor Swift. It was like, 'What?!'"

When the Maces, who are from Edwardsburg, Mich., were selected to be featured on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show back in 2009, they thought they were doing a preliminary interview with producers about the videos they were posting on YouTube -- but instead, they appeared right then and there on Winfrey's show. Swift was one of the day's other guests, and she offered the twins tickets to a nearby tour stop and a meet and greet.

"It was really a life changer," Liz Mace adds. "From that day on, it was like, ‘Oh, yeah, that one time we were on The Oprah [Winfrey] Show."

In March, Megan & Liz released a country EP, Deux. Their single from the project is "Home Is You."

"We’re actually working on new music, to be determined when it comes out," Liz Mace reveals. "But "Home Is You" is out right now, and we’re hoping to make people cry."

"If I never lose my way / I know where to run to," the Maces sing in "Home Is You." "Home isn't a place / Home is you." At the end of May, they released a music video for the tune.

"It’s about our relationship as twin sisters, and the music video, the goal was to make people cry," Megan Mace says, "and we accomplished that."

"Home Is You" is available for download on iTunes.
