The American Music Award nominations, which were announced Tuesday morning by Carmen Electra and Tyrese Gibson at the Beverly Hills Hotel, reflect the unpredictable and diverse cross-section of genres on the charts this past year, with Mariah Carey, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback and the Black Eyed Peas leading the pack with three nods each.

As for Electra, her excitement comes from not only the music, but her co-announcer as well. "I loved having the opportunity to announce the American Music Award nominees with Tyrese," Electra tells AOL Music. "[And] as a dancer and a performer I have a passion for music and know many of the nominated artists. The AMA's are great because you get a little bit of everything, they cover all generes of music."

The event takes place in L.A. on Nov. 21.
