Luke Bryan Gets ‘Formal’ Invite to Marine Corps Ball

"Looking for a few good men" may be an outdated Marine Corps slogan, but a Marine who's looking for one man in particular has found a unique way to reach out to him.

"My name is Nicole McCoy," begins Lance Corporal McCoy's YouTube video. "I'm a Marine stationed in Albany, Georgia, and I'm here to invite Luke Bryan to this year's Marine Corps Ball.

"It's formal, so pick up something nice," the clip continues. "I'll even buy your dinner. You won't have to worry about it. The food's great, the people are even better, the music's awesome, and you get to spend the night with a bunch of Marines. I promise you, we'll show you how to have a great time."

While she's aware she's inviting a married man to accompany her to the dance, Lance Corporal McCoy is also married. Her husband works on an oil rig in another town.

"I read that your family is only a couple minutes away from the base, so you'd be able see them as well," her recorded request concludes. "I think it would be a great opportunity for you to come down here. I'd be really honored to go to the ball with you. I hope to hear from you soon and I hope to get a response. Thank you so much."

Even though she has already received some ribbing for her choice of date, the country music fan says it's all in good fun. "[My family has] been listening to Luke Bryan forever. We call each other when certain songs are on the radio and say, 'Your songs are on,'" she explains to Georgia news station WALB. "There's no intentions other than you want to meet the person you look up to."

Luke was surprised and honored by the invitation but says he's unsure about whether or not he'll be able to attend. "It's awesome," the singer tells Taste of Country. "We are gonna do something nice. I don't necessarily know if I can go to the Ball with her. I think I may be working somewhere."
