Lukas Nelson and P.O.T.R. recently celebrated their fifth anniversary of touring with one unforgettable show. The band acknowledged the milestone with a performance at Fox Theater in Boulder, Colo. on March 30.

"The show went incredible!" Nelson wrote on his Tumblr blog, Life on the Road. "Anthony Logerfo, our trusted drummer and my good friend, said it was like a battle on a ship...He was holding the rudder, I was firing the big guns and Tato and Corey were keeping the engine working overtime! The crowd was insane and fun and we loved every minute of it!"

The son of Willie Nelson says the party continued long after the show ended.

"We danced on the bus all night long," he recalls. "It was the perfect euphoric ending to the 5 year anniversary of the band."

Nelson and his band are balancing life on the road with getting ready to release a brand-new album, 'Love Yourself,' which was recorded in California's Topanga Canyon.

“We’d surf in the morning and then hit the studio that we set up at the camp,” Nelson recalls. “It was a really amazing place. It provided for a very creative atmosphere. Six weeks is the longest time we ever spent on a record -- and we have even more to do still. It was great to have that time to really work on the songs and get the sounds just right. Living together for six weeks also really helped us connect more as a band and allow us to be as creative as we could be.”

The singer-songwriter says 'Love Yourself' is an entirely different direction from their previous album, 'Wasted,' which was released in 2012.

"This record is a lot more positive and reflective than the last," Nelson explains. 'Wasted' was a snapshot of this darker place I was in. This new album is me having emerged from that place and finding balance again in my life and really connecting with my band."

Lukas Nelson & P.O.T.R. will continue their tour with a series of shows in California later this month. See a list of upcoming shows here.
