Lindsay Ell has released a music video for her latest single, "By the Way."

The simple video, directed by Desmond Desmarais, is the perfect visual accompaniment for the lively breakup song. The clip features shots of Ell in a field as well as behind the microphone in a recording studio, and the track serves as a letter to ex-boyfriends “Mr. Cowboy Boots” and “Mr. Baseball Cap." Ell explains that it took next to no time for her to get over those relationships.

"Not every relationship needs to be sad and down in the dumps after it. You learn from it," Ell tells Rolling Stone Country. "You learn what you want and what you don't want, and you move forward."

The Canadian-born singer lends her own musical talents to the "By the Way," playing guitar, banjo and ganjo on the track in addition to singing. Ell says that she has been inspired by artists who have the musical talent to back up their record deals, including Keith Urban.

"He's such an incredible singer, player, songwriter, performer, entertainer," she says. "It's like he uses the guitar as another voice. He speaks through his lyrics, but also through his guitar."

"By the Way" is available for download on iTunes and Amazon.
