Lee Brice Unharmed in Tour Bus Fire — Says He Feels ‘Blessed’
January is shaping up to be an exciting month for Lee Brice. Maybe a little too exciting. A few weeks back, the country singer got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, and yesterday (Jan. 21), he escaped injury after his tour bus caught fire in Mesa, Ariz.
According to a local ABC affiliate, the fire broke out in front of Toby Keith's Bar and Grill, where Lee and his band and crew had pulled up after a nine-hour drive. When the blaze began, the 'Love Like Crazy' singer was asleep, but he quickly woke up and made it off without incident.
"They were like, bus is on fire, we're not kidding," he said. "So we had to run off and within a couple of minutes it was in flames. The whole back of the lounge was apparently burned through."
While the flames were "as high as the roof of the building," in the estimation of firefighter Shaun Denman, no one was hurt, and the damage appeared to be relatively minimal.
"There was a little charring on the some of the clothes but other than that everything came out OK," Denman said.
"You know what, everybody is OK, and that's really the most important thing," he said. "We're blessed. We'll be OK."
