Lee Ann Womack has set a special goal for her upcoming 18-city concert tour with George Strait and Reba McEntire -- to rally 100,000 of her fans to raise money in support of economic and educational opportunities for women and girls in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in Africa. The campaign is a joint venture between the General Mills corporation and international humanitarian organization CARE. It is hoped that through videos, blog posts, and photos, participants can follow the impact of their donations on the girls and women in Malawi.

Those who wish to offer support are encouraged to visit Join My Village to watch a video detailing a young girl's opportunity to attend school. Users' clicks at the site will release up to $500,000 in donations from General Mills to CARE. General Mills will also match individual donations made through the site.

"As a mother of two girls, I see the opportunities that education has created for my daughters' future," says Lee Ann, who will also appear in public service announcements and social-media events for the campaign. "I believe that every girl in the world has unlimited potential and by supporting Join My Village, I know we can provide girls with opportunities to learn, achieve and improve their future."

Lee Ann has always believed in the beauty and power of simple acts and traces them back to her religious beliefs. That's one reason she says she was inspired her recent single, 'There Is a God.'

"It's such a simple song," Lee Ann tells The Boot. "It basically just says, 'Take a look around and try to tell me there isn't a God.' And don't you have those moments when you feel like that? You're on top of a hill and you see a beautiful scene, or like the part about the ultrasound and the baby."

Lee Ann's next concert is scheduled for January 14 in Austin, Texas. For more of her upcoming shows, click here.
