Kip Moore is about to graduate to headliner status. The singer, who is currently serving as the opening act on Tim McGraw's Sundown Heaven Town Tour, will headline CMT on Tour 2014: Up in Smoke this fall.

"We've been on the road pretty much non-stop for the past four years, playing as much as we can wherever we can," Moore says. "When we started out, sometimes there would only be five people at a show, and seeing the crowds grow over the years is really humbling and encouraging. And now, to be teaming up with CMT for a tour is a really exciting moment in my career. We'll definitely be playing lots of songs from the new album out on the road, so it will be fun to test those out and see what the fans think."

Moore has released the second single, 'Dirt Road,' from his upcoming record, even though he still has not revealed when the new set of tunes will be available. His sophomore album was originally scheduled for a May release, before the singer-songwriter decided he wasn't finished working on the project.

“I’m never done. It could still shift,” he says. “We now know exactly when the record’s comin’ out, and there still is time to change it up. So I’ve still been writing a lot of stuff that I’m starting to really, really like, so it might change again. I just have to keep reminding myself that as long as I’ve lived with these songs, other people still haven’t heard them yet, so we’ll see.”

It's a busy week for the Georgia native. He performed his latest single, 'Dirt Road,' last night (June 2) on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers,' and will perform a few shows in Nashville this week as part of the annual CMA Music Festival, including a show outside the Bridgestone Arena to kick off the 2014 CMT Music Awards Red Carpet pre-show. Moore will also perform during the live televised broadcast.

Charlie Worsham and Sam Hunt will serve as opening acts on the CMT Tour, which will kick off on Sept. 25 in New York City. Tickets go on sale this Friday (June 6). See a list of the CMT Tour dates here, and keep track of Moore's entire schedule here.
