Kenny Rogers is used to putting pen to paper to write songs, and now the iconic entertainer is putting the finishing touches on a book that will detail his colorful life and legendary career.

"I have to admit, I've had an incredible life," Kenny says (quote via MSN.com). "Once I started actually recalling some of the special moments, I was shocked as to how much fun it was for me. I would hope that [people] get a sense of where I came from, who I am, and where I'm going."

The "Gambler" singer will have to balance finishing his book with a packed summer tour schedule. The 73-year-old will perform at two Tennessee music festivals in June -- Bonnaroo and CMA Music Fest.

Kenny also recently announced he would head to Australia and New Zealand in August. His 10-date tour includes stops in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. Glen Campbell will join him for six of those shows.

As if writing a book and traveling the world weren't enough, Kenny will also spend time in the studio recording a new album this year. His latest, The Love of God, a collection of hymns and inspirational songs, was released in 2011.

Kenny's book is scheduled for a fall release. Keep track of his tour schedule here.
