Kenny Chesney is a massive figure in country music, and in a few weeks, he'll have an award to prove it. The 'American Kids' singer will receive the first-ever Groundbreaker Award at the 2014 American Country Countdown Awards.

The Groundbreaker Award honors Chesney's "creative innovation, musical accomplishments and role in expanding the genre," according to People.

"The Groundbreaker Award recognizes how Kenny has revolutionized the live music experience for country fans," explains Mark Bracco, Dick Clark Productions' executive vice president of programming and development. "He is a true groundbreaker, moving country music into new directions with his pioneering, record-breaking tours that have propelled him into one of the very biggest live performing artists in America. Kenny is the perfect recipient for our very first show."

Chesney famously took 2014 off from touring to focus on his new album, 'The Big Revival,' which became his 13th No. 1 record. He's already announced his massive plans to return to the road next year with the Big Revival Tour, which will feature Jake OwenChase Rice and Cole Swindell on select dates and partner with Eric Church and Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert for various shows.

"To be given the first of any special award is a great honor because you know they've really thought about it," Chesney says. "Given what they're saying the Groundbreaker Award means, I'm honored that's how the ACC Awards sees me. I try to push what we've done, give the fans the best night of the summer -- and hopefully, we can keep making the music better and more interesting to give them a reason to come back."

Chesney recently released a new Christmas single, 'Christmas in Blue Chair Bay.'

The ACC Awards will air live from Nashville’s Music City Center on Monday, Dec. 15, at 8 PM ET on Fox. Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley will host the show.
