Kenny Chesney Shares ‘Cosmic Hallelujah’ Details
With just over a month to go until the release of his new album, Cosmic Hallelujah, Kenny Chesney has revealed more details about the project. On Wednesday (Sept. 21), the singer unveiled the record's cover and shared the names of some of its tracks.
Cosmic Hallelujah -- originally titled Some Town Somewhere -- was originally set for release on July 8, 2016. However, on July 6, Chesney revealed that the album was being delayed until Oct. 28. The extra time, the country star admits, allowed him to add to the project and change it a bit.
“I’ve been blessed with some of the best songs out there, some songs written, actually, just for this album by writers whose work I’ve loved for years,” Chesney explains in a press release. “When [Chesney's new duet with Pink,] "Setting the World on Fire" came together, it opened a window of time -- and some songs that had come in after we were done, I didn’t have to save for the next album.
"Suddenly, everything was changing," he continues, "and the album I’m releasing now has a lot of what made Some Town Somewhere capture the essential part of who the No Shoes Nation is, but really takes the your-life-is-now piece of [Chesney's last studio album,] The Big Revival and expands it."
In addition to "Setting the World on Fire" and its first single, "Noise," Cosmic Hallelujah will also feature songs titled "Some Town Somewhere," "Trip Around the Sun," "All the Pretty Girls," "Bar at the End of the World," "Winnebago," "Jesus and Elvis," "Bucket" and "Rich and Miserable."
“And there’s one very special song I’ve been holding for years called "Coach" that we went in and re-cut,” Chesney reveals. “It really captured that song’s heart."
Songwriters on Cosmic Hallelujah include Matraca Berg, Hayes Carll, Hillary Lindsey, Shane McAnally, Allison Moorer, David Lee Murphy, Jon Nite, Josh Osborne and Craig Wiseman. Moorer also sings on “Jesus and Elvis.”
Both "Noise" and "Setting the World on Fire" are available for download on iTunes.
